Overview

The time to get kids and their parents interested in soccer is when they are very young. An organized and fun Futures program keeps families coming back year after year and develops good soccer skills at an early age. Our Futures program is intended to keep everyone active, but not be pressured to compete at this young age.

Futures is only on Saturday mornings from 9:00 – 9:45 AM and 10:15 – 11:00 AM, depending on your assigned session (there are no weekday practices) at the Vern R. Campbell Soccer Complex. The first session of Futures always coincides with the first Saturday of Developmental games.  We play in all weather, except storms with thunder or lightning. These sessions require parent participation with your child. A responsible adult must accompany the player at all times – families with multiple players should make arrangements to meet this requirement. We will give group instruction, and then assist you and your child. In general, there is about 10 minutes of warm up, 25 minutes of skill development with a parent and the final 10 minutes is set aside for goal scoring.

We run our program mostly for children who are 2 to 4 years old.  We have had younger players sign up, but that is a temperament thing – some kids are ready for organized activity, some are not.  Generally, children who are preschool through young prekindergarten do well in tots and older pre-kindergarten through kindergarten do well in the next under 7 (U7) age bracket.

The Futures program is relaxed – you only need to bring a fun attitude and a water bottle for hydration. Soccer balls are provided. Players should leave their soccer balls at home as it sometimes causes tears when they cannot use the ball they brought. Shin guards covered with long socks or sweatpants are recommended, but not required.  Cleats (no cleat on toe) are recommended, but not required.

Each player will receive a uniform shirt. Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather and ready to go at the start time.

Overview

The Developmental Rec Program is an affiliate of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association.

It is a coed program designed to introduce players to a much higher level of soccer than is normally provided by typical recreational programs, yet still at an affordable cost.

The program has no selection process (tryouts) and all players are treated equally regardless of ability or interest level.

Teams are coached by volunteer parent coaches up to two times per week and play games on Saturday mornings.

This season will run for for approximately 8-9 weeks and contain 6 games.
